About Plymouth Arts Centre

Plymouth Arts Centre is 60 years old this year and is one of the longest established arts centres in the country offering some of the best exhibitions by local, national and international artists.

During these years it has carved a leading role in the cultural life of the city and across Devon and Cornwall, being the principle gallery publicly funded for the contemporary visual arts between Exeter and Penzance. It has a sustained commitment, often against the odds, to provide innovative programming and new work with integrity. Plymouth Arts Centre's programme continues to attract high profile artists and produce high quality exhibitions.

This rich and varied history has created a stimulating and exciting venue to visit, which is truly a part of the cultural heart of Plymouth. Alongside our gallery programme, Plymouth Arts Centre cinema has the only full time screen dedicated to offering art-house and the best ground-breaking independent and foreign films within the city. This unique grouping means that Plymouth remains the only arts organisation of its kind in the region.
